Publicity

In week two it’s time to start reaching out and telling people I’m here! It’s a new experience publicising my own business and I’m quickly learning to get used to a degree of unpredictability, in terms of what responses I will get and when. On LinkedIN I’ve set up my company page, updated my personal profile and now am about to put a posting about the new company. I wonder whether I’ll get lots of responses or just a few – let’s see.

Meanwhile, shaping of the business continues at pace. Many different aspects, each important in its own way. Getting accounts and finances sorted. Registering with tender portals to identify bidding opportunities. Sorting out IT security and cloud storage. The list goes on…

It’s a big change being responsible for absolutely everything having previously worked in big, multi-division organisations, but I’m impressed by the quality both of resources and help available online, and more importantly other excellent professionals really keen to help me. As well as those working in other organisations, I should mention one of my great friends who got my new email hosting and Windows 360 set-up completely sorted for me – thank you mate, a massive help (I won’t embarrass you by telling everyone who you are!)

In praise of – Cardiff!

One final thing. A really enjoyable task has been choosing photos for the website. I still have quite a few I didn’t use – various perspectives on the fantastic city of Cardiff. It really is one of the UK’s finest cities, with amazing culture and beautiful surroundings. Here’s a picture taken recently on a cycle ride in the hills just above the city, Bristol Channel in the background.
